What is left when an actor takes off everything that defines him – the costume, the set design, the character and the protection of the theatrical form? Mandić Cirkus (cruel) is the third performance variant of the project created from more than twenty-five years of Marko Mandić's acting work. The play is based on fragments of as many as 91 acting creations that Mandic achieved from 1996 to 2021. In this version, everything is stripped down. Without set design, costume design and classic light effects, the actor is left alone in front of the audience and in front of his own body, voice and experience. The boundary between the actor and his roles is gradually erased, and out of this encounter arises what the authors call the "third body" – something that is neither the actor nor his character, but a completely new performing presence. With the powerful sonic world of musician Sam Kutin and his hurdy-gurdy lyre, Mandic goes through fr the agents of one's own artistic life, turning them into a raw, physical and intense performance. The play does not try to please. She explores the limits of stamina, identity and the acting body and questions what happens when a performer is completely left to the process of creation.
