Tessa is a brilliant and ambitious lawyer who sovereignly rules the courtroom. For years, she built her career believing in the law, rules, and power of the legal system. He knows how the system works – and he knows how to win in it. Everything changes when her personal experience collides with the rules of a system she had previously unconditionally trusted. The award-winning text by Australian author Suzie Miller, herself a former lawyer, is a tense legal thriller and a powerful psychological drama that questions the relationship between law, truth and human experience. Through the story of a professional woman confronted with violence, the play raises the question of whether the legal system can really understand what is happening beyond its formal rules. In the intense monodrama, Tessa gradually changes in front of an audience – from a confident, witty and witty professional to a woman who is forced to question everything she believes in. Her professional safety begins to crack, and what had previously been the means of her power becomes the source of her greatest internal conflict. Prima facie is a show about power, vulnerability, violence, silence, and the price we pay when trying to survive within a system that doesn't always recognize the human experience.
