Materina Uzance is the longest-running summer event held in the heart of Pakoštane, in the oldest part of Pakoštane, in Bužak, since 2008, according to the idea and organized by the DAN Ethno Association. On that day, you will have the opportunity to see the exhibition From the Mother's Chest (ethno house in Buzak) and learn about how women dressed, what they prepared for attire (dotu) and how they maintained and decorated their home. Also, at the exhibition of old photographs of Pakostane in the 20th century, set in the open air (from the church to the waterfront), you will get to know the social, religious, cultural and sports life of Pakostane. Tastes of cućak, octopus, clams, stew, salted sardines, prosciutto, homemade cheese, cake and olive oil, wine, prosecco and brandy are waiting for you in the longest street Bužak and will give you a true picture of the tradition and heritage of Pakoštane. Flavors of fritule, mimaca, mendula in sugar, kroštula prepared according to the old recipes of Pakoštane housewives will sweeten your stay in Pakoštane. Visit and taste the trace of the past that awakens that evening in every Bužak canton where women have left their indelible mark. Come to the stone streets of Bužak and try the cuisine of our mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers: chutney, gnocchi, octopus on a corpse, clams, prosciutto, cheese, fritters, kroštule... salty and sweet.
